Pigtails

Monique surprised us today by putting Emily's hair up in pigtails! Turns out, she has plenty of hair for it. Sorry Em looks so exhausted in the picture...she refused to take her afternoon nap, and as a result, was ready to crash when I took this. But I wanted to capture the moment on the day that it happened - first pigtails :)

And a short silly video of Emily entertaining Mommy and Daddy tonight:

End of August

It's hard to believe we are in the end of August and consequently summer....in spite of my birthday being in the fall and everyone being excited about cooler weather, I am not a fan of fall or winter and don't look forward to summer's end. But, since the weather is cooling off in the mornings and evenings, we've been able to spend some time outside.

Please ignore the fact that my shirt is all bunched up and makes me look like I, not Emily, have the baby rolls all over my stomach....I promise it's not that bad ;)

Lunch at Chick-fil-A!

Being silly in Daddy's car...trying to stand on the car seat and talk to Daddy as he is unloading the trunk.

Grocery shopping @ Kroger...

Emily is fascinated with the refrigerator and freezer...loves to organize things in there, and then shut the doors. I caught her in the act today :)

Happy Fall everyone!

Bookcase

Today, we spent some time upgrading Emily's room....we decided it was time to make it look more like a toddler room than a baby room. Before, Emily's baby bassinet was the storage unit for all her books and tons of her toys, but it was all just a pile of random stuff that made it look messy. We found this bookcase at Target, and some bins to go in it - small surprise, Emily's favorite is the Disney Princess one - and organized all her toys and books, with lots of room to spare. It looks great in her room, goes with all her furniture, and she loves it! Steve and I, being neat freaks that have had to have an attitude adjustment since a baby joined our household, are excited about how "clean" everything looks.

The bookcase!

Emily, checking out the new addition to her room.

It works!! :)

Videos

I've been taking some videos of Emily lately with my regular "picture" camera, not video camera (so the quality is not always impeccable...) and decided to share. Emily is 13 1/2 months old and SO much fun. She has added "oh my", "milk", "eye" (and she can show where her eyes are, and yours if you ask her to) to her vocabulary, and is getting good at doing animal sounds. She can be a handful and definitely has a stubborn streak, but she is also very sweet and loving. She loves to give hugs and kisses.

Just like mommy....leave her alone with a good book & she is happy!

Crazy hair!! (Hair has been getting long lately, and curling at the ends.)

And now, for the videos!! Splashing in the tub like crazy is her new favorite thing...she can cause a miniature flood in the bathroom and turn mommy and daddy into two soggy scarecrows in a matter of seconds!!! She can also show how old she is (in that video, she also has 2 bruises on her head that came from her & Noah falling into the toy box together....and sporting matching bruises on their foreheads for a week.) And finally, we are getting more and more confident with walking. Emily took her time getting started on that one, but she is showing good balance and great determination. Enjoy!!
