First Time at Chick-fil-A

Today, we met my friend Elizabeth and her mom Nancy at Chick-fil-A for lunch, and Emily came too!  It was Emily's first-ever outing to a public place like that (believe it or not, we have not gone "out" to eat with her until now!)  Emily did very well - she smiled, 'talked', cooed, and even shrieked (happily), did not complain until the very end, and that was only because it got close to her nap time and she was ready to go. We were very proud of her!

Ok, let's see what this "going out to eat" is all about...I am ready!

Sitting in a high chair like a big girl:

Mimi's lap was her place of choice after a while - and that was ok with everybody!

Fifi came along, and entertained Emily for a while:

Elizabeth's friend Saphrina made this blanket for Emily...it's a keeper!  :)

Long post...aka Emily is 8 months old!

I apologize for the lack of posts lately - it's been crazy at the George house!  Emily started daycare this week.  Things have been going well, although we are yet to leave her there for the whole day.  I've been off this week so we are doing half days.  We will attempt all day tomorrow.

Emily also turned 8 months old this week.  Mimi, Daddy, and Mommy ate some turtle pie to celebrate, while Emily looked curiously on.

Lots of pictures in this post....since I have to catch up and all.......

Her new sun hat - it's been coming in handy on those walks with Mimi when the sun is blazing...today it was over 80 degrees and the girls still wanted some fresh air (can't blame them...) so we've been wearing the hat.  Emily will try to pull it off her head a lot, but somehow she kept it on for the pictures.

Our little fashionista.....in Mimi's scarf.

Playing with Russian things Mimi brought.....(they are bright and colorful so she is interested in them.)

Off to daycare we go - the morning of Monday March 2nd....in her car seat ready to meet Monique (babysitter).  Emily has been having fun with Monique and her two boys, 2.5 year old Luis, and 7 month old Noah.

Promise I have not lost my mind.  I know Christmas was 3 months ago.  It's just that my friend Elizabeth gave Emily this adorable bib for Christmas and asked me to take her picture in it.  I kept forgetting and forgetting, until I realized I better take this now, or it will be next Christmas with a 1.5 year old in the picture - and somehow I get the feeling Elizabeth wanted a "baby" picture with that bib, not a toddler picture :)

Ems LOVES the washing machine.  Can sit on it for what seems like hours.  Yet, she hated the vibration in her bassinet.  Go figure?????

Please don't call CPS.....I made sure there was no detergent anywhere on that cap or bottle.  For that matter, there wasn't even any dust on it!

Cheerios.....she likes to play with them but refuses to put them in her mouth.  Yet, everything else that has no business in her mouth goes there right away (cloths, paper towels, socks, shoes.....)  Silly goose!

Remember the bunny from a few posts ago?  Well.....the little guy (not so little any more) now lives in our back yard permanently.  Here he is, sitting under our palm tree. Steve and I give him carrots - probably part of the reason he stuck around.  The other day he let Mimi, Mommy, and Emily come very close!  Emily went crazy, she was so excited about seeing the bunny.

All pretty in pink, ready for her nap.

Ahhh....the joys of technology.  Daddy and Emily love the TV.  Mommy spoils all their fun when she doesn't let Emily watch it :)

The last few times, she's really liked a sink bath, not a tub bath.

In her Jumperoo, she lowers her head/eyes all the way to the blinking lights in the piano - it's so cute!  I think she is trying to figure out how those lights work.   Steve thinks she might be an engineer when she grows up, she has a thing for everything mechanical & technical.  Mommy would rather see her be a brilliant lawyer or doctor, so she can take care of us in our old age.....lol, kidding!!

More pink ruffles.  We need some bows in that hair!!  :)

Emily's first official tennis shoes.  She is very proud of them.  Loves to chew on the shoelaces!

And, Daddy took some nice black & white shots of his favorite girl a couple of days ago - who needs photo studios?  :)  Thanks, Daddy!!  :)

Craziness

So Emily's been doing some crazy things lately.

Look at that binky and at that face!  She was actually very happy but somehow she looks mad!  She'll squeeze the side of the binky with her gums and just sit like that forever....silly goose....

Riding into the sunset on Daddy's shoulders....

Being goofy with Mimi's jacket - she laughed till she got hiccups (this picture does not show the smile, by the time my camera takes the picture, all smiles are gone....I need to figure out what to do with that shutter speed.......)

She made a tent out of Mimi's jacket.

Playing In the Crib

I don't even remember what prompted us to put Emily in her crib to play tonight but she had a blast! The piggy bank is her new discovery - loves it!  She is starting to round her lips and say something that sounds like "who" - that's what she is doing in the last picture....

Yay!  Tomorrow is Friday!

February 1st in Dallas

The pictures that go with the title of the post will actually be at the end of the post - got too far in the uploading before I realized it.  Oh well - they are all cute!

Another sleeping picture.  Check out that mohawk!

Yet another new thing - hanging upside down when somebody is holding her.  It gets heavy very quickly!

Getting ready for her daily walk with Mimi (they only skip days that are too cold).

And here we go - February 1st in Dallas......after 9 years in Texas, I still find it hard to believe sometimes how warm it can get here in the winter time. Emily has no socks, short sleeves, and light pants, and she actually got hot sitting outside in her stroller! I know my friends and family in Russia will hate me for rubbing it in - but it's not like we didn't have ice just 4 days ago!

25 Things

My friend Angie tagged me on her blog, and then another friend tagged me on Facebook with this "25 Random Things" - the idea being, you list 25 random things about yourself and then tag your friends to do the same.  So, here goes!

1. I speak 3 languages - Russian, English, and German
2. My daughter Emily was born on Independence Day of the year I got my American citizenship - you think I was ever meant to live in America?  :)
3. Contrary to most people's opinion, I am painfully shy.
4. I seriously considered a career in neurosurgery before I became obsessed with everything "language" (which brought me to this country, otherwise I would be digging in people's brains in Russia right now!)
5. I took ballet for 5 years as a kid. I was finally told I was too tall for professional ballet, which devastated me for years! I think it may have been the biggest disappointment of my entire childhood.
6. I am obsessed with the TV show "24" and everything Kiefer Sutherland.
7. I am a yes person - I can only say no to people I really love (backwards?  probably!)
8. I love Texas summers. I will take 100 degree heat over rain, clouds, snow, sleet, ice, etc. any day!
9. I enjoy being on the beach but hate swimming.
10. Tex Mex is the only food I ever crave.
11. I met my first boyfriend in daycare when we were both 3 (of course, he did not become my boyfriend until several years later!)
12. In the 31 years of my life, I have only cooked 1 complete meal.  I am lucky, my husband is an amazing cook!
13. I love ironing.  I find it therapeutic.
14. I did not meet my best friend and "sister", Natasha, until I was 18. She was worth the wait!
15. My dream car is a pearly white BMW X-5.
16. I am addicted to chocolate.
17. I never went through a teenage rebellion stage.  My Mom says I will rebel when I am 45.
18. I did not know what true love was until I met my wonderful husband.
19. I am a nerd and a bookworm, and will choose a good book over any other entertainment imaginable.
20.  I can't stand yellow gold (on me, not on other people.)
21. I love flying, and traveling in general.
22. I am a huge fan of Macintosh computers, and will never buy a PC again.
23. My favorite colors are teal/aqua, and pink.
24. The best comfort food for me is home made mashed potatoes and pickles (yes, together.)
25. This year, my birthday will be 09/09/09 - I think that's WAY cool :)

Anyway......this was a lot of fun to do - thanks, Angie!  I don't have a lot of friends that blog, so tagging someone else is hard, but Elizabeth S., if you'd like to try your hand at this, I'd love to read the 25 things I may or may not know about you!!
